Gold is priced globally in US Dollars per troy ounce (31.1035g) — the "spot price". Jewellers and local markets usually quote it per gram, tola (11.6638g, common across Pakistan, India and the Gulf) or kilogram instead, and add a making charge on top of the metal value.
